MarinMOCA seeks a Visitor Engagement Coordinator to support the visitor, membership, and volunteer engagement functions of the museum. The Visitor Engagement Coordinator will oversee the museum’s front desk reception area, volunteer recruitment/engagement, museum and artist membership, and social media accounts, among other responsibilities. The ideal candidate must be extremely detail-oriented, organized, outgoing, and able to multi-task with ease. S/he should be able to work independently, but also feel comfortable in a close working environment. Experience and/or interest in contemporary art a plus.

This is a part-time position, 30 hours/week, Wed-Sat, including occasional evening events. Reports to the Executive Director.

Responsibilities

Museum Reception / Volunteer Engagement / Membership Management

  • Greet public, maintain front desk reception/admissions and perform front of house duties as necessary in the absence of volunteer gallery hosts.

  • Recruit, interview, schedule, and supervise volunteers/interns across all aspects of the organization.

  • Conceive, develop, and improve the visitor experience.

  • Train and prepare volunteers/interns to answer visitor questions about the institution and the exhibitions.

  • Assist with docent training and managing docent tour schedule.

  • Generate and disseminate monthly museum and artist membership renewal/join notices and conducting follow-up.

  • Conduct monthly outreach and follow-up to member community via phone/email.

Communications / Social Media

  • Assist with updating website.

  • Update online calendars as needed for new programs and events.

  • Oversee all aspects of MMOCA social media; conceive, research, schedule, and post to Instagram and Twitter; create, monitor, and promote Facebook events for MMOCA programming.

  • Promote MMOCA events and exhibitions within region via dissemination of collateral in the community as needed.

  • Basic research, copy-editing, and proof-reading.

Events

  • Assist staff with logistics and event production related to public programs, receptions, and special events.

  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies.

Office Management

  • Maintain global calendar.

  • Manage all organizational mailings.

  • General support of Executive Director and Marketing and Development Manager.

Requirements
  • BA or BFA required.

  • Strong organization and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Outgoing and enthusiastic demeanor.

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment and to communicate well with colleagues and the general public.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required: Word and Excel.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite a plus, including video and audio editing.

  • Proficiency with Constant Contact and Donorsnap or a similar donor database system a plus.

  • Knowledge of CMS systems preferred.
