Responsible for providing excellent customer service in a museum admission and retail setting. This is a part-time role and consistent scheduled hours are not guaranteed each week. Typical hours will average 12-16 per week; Thursday 3:00pm - 7:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 11:00am - 5:00pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Under direction of supervisor)
Converses with store visitors regarding merchandise, provides accurate product information, answers questions about and shows/demonstrates merchandise. Engages customers to ensure optimum shopping experience.
Operates a variety of retail equipment including cash register, POS system, credit card processor, iPad Square, calculator.
Performs opening and closing procedures including balancing registers.
Assists in stocking, labeling, and displaying merchandise.
Gift wraps merchandise as needed.
Collects Museum admission fees, sells memberships and event tickets at SMoCA. Answers main phone line for SMoCA.
Orients visitors to exhibitions and programs through Scottsdale Arts.
Provides support and direction for store volunteers as needed.
Ensures store and back areas are kept neat, clean and organized.
Performs other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education: High school or equivalent
Experience: One year of retail sales or customer service experience
Ability to add, subtract and calculate percentages
Ability to solve practical problems
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Creative merchandising skills helpful
Previous experience with POS and ticketing software preferred
Demonstrated interest or experience in the arts preferred
Must be able to utilize tech equipment needed to run store
Must present a friendly, open, and approachable demeanor to positively impact customer service.
May occasionally be exposed to outside elements. Employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or use controls and talk or hear. Employee required to stand or walk for long periods of time; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Occasionally lifts or moves items up to 25 pounds.
