PAMM is seeking an experienced Web Developer. Working directly with the Director of Digital Engagement, they will lead technical development, deployment, and maintenance of visitor-centered digital projects enabling PAMM to engage more deeply with larger and more diverse audiences. The Web Developer develops projects that integrate the museum’s digital resources and platforms into a cohesive ecosystem.

The Web Developer will join a new Digital Engagement team during a pivotal time as the museum is undergoing a digital transformation. PAMM is using digital technology to deepen its connection with current visitors and engage new audiences by building cross-departmental digital initiatives. The candidate for this new role will have an opportunity to own and collaborate on integral technology development to enhance the visitor experience. They will play a key role in brainstorming and executing new ideas that will help PAMM achieve its digital goals and realize the museum’s mission to encourage everyone to see art as an incentive for genuine human interaction, communication, and exchange.

The Web Developer will play a key role in advancing the organization to a future thinking approach to digital technology and will proactively provide consultation to internal stakeholders. They must have an entrepreneurial mindset that allows them to think about digital technology beyond the basic skill set needed to develop/manage it, and enthusiastically embrace new ways of thinking and working.

Base Pay:

$75000.00 - $85000.00 / Year

Responsibilities

Essential Functions included, but are not limited to:

  • Extend and maintain the museum’s public facing digital initiatives.

  • Work with the Director of Digital Experience to prioritize and scope work regarding these public facing digital initiatives.

  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to support new software development, including scope discovery, development, and communication.

  • Integrate the museum’s disparate technologies into a cohesive system.

  • Data and content migrations.

  • Collaborate with the data analyst to create and present data sets that provide insight into efficacy of museum initiatives.

  • Deploy digital projects and ensuring the minimization of any service interruptions.

  • Coordinate QA (quality assurance) to ensure a smooth rollout for new digital features and initiatives.

  • Diagnose and fix software issues and bugs.

  • Write detailed documentation for PAMM’s software solutions.

  • Work closely with IT to evaluate hosting and other infrastructural solutions for digital projects.

  • Assist with other tasks that relate to the production and execution of digital initiatives.

  • Research efficacy of emerging technology trends for utility in a museum setting.

Physical Demands:

  • Walk, bend, lift (up to 15 pounds) files, office supplies an electronic equipment.

  • Finger dexterity to pick up paper and use computer keyboard.

  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

  • Ability to hear in normal tones including telephone and face-to-face conversation.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Education and training: Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, fine arts or humanities, related field or equivalent experience that demonstrates abilities in software development, web development, systems integration and/or API development.

Work experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in web/software development with a focus in backend / server-side projects.

Skills:

  • Proficient with PHP and other languages such as Node or Python.

  • Proficient with core frontend technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, and HTML.

  • Working knowledge of popular content management software such as WordPress and Drupal.

  • Experience with MySQL, Postgres, or other *SQL software.

  • Experience with version control tools such as git.

  • Experience in API development.

  • Experience architecting and implementing integrations with a variety of software interfaces.

  • Experience with Elasticsearch or Solr.

  • Familiarity with the Linux operating system and the command line interface.

  • Familiarity with one or more web service providers such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud Platform.

  • Experience deploying complex software solutions to a public audience.

  • Knowledge of popular development workflows such as Agile and Waterfall.

  • Knowledge of common tools of collaboration such as Asana, Jira, and Trello.

  • Results and detail-oriented with ability to set and meet deadlines.

  • Interest and ability to quickly master new tools and software.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to translate tough or tricky ideas and concepts to broad audiences.

Equipment Operated:

Macintosh and Windows-based computer systems, multimedia and internet development software, database software, digital graphics software, digital animation software, audio recording and editing software, scanners, touch screens, non-linear video editing software, audio recording devices, digital still cameras, and digital video cameras.
