Michael Rosenfeld Gallery is currently seeking a highly skilled full-time preparator that is organized, detail-oriented, and motivated.

Responsibilities

EXHIBITIONS:

  • Installation / de-installation of all exhibitions in the gallery, client homes and art fairs

  • Assess artworks to determine appropriate installation gear, crates, mechanical supports, vitrines, pedestals, hardware, or other needs; coordinates the fabrication or purchase of these items as needed

  • Maintain and manage inventory locations accurately within the gallery and at off-site storage

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes daily maintenance of the gallery and management of all physical spaces, ensuring that the gallery is fully functional and presentable

  • Maintains and organizes inventory of all equipment and hardware. Coordinates timely purchases of required departmental supplies

  • Ability to anticipate problems before they arise, creative problem-solving skills

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA, BFA in studio art, art history, architecture, design, or related field

  • 3-5 years in a commercial fine art gallery or museum

  • Thorough knowledge of museum standards for packing, crating, handling, installing, and housing artworks

  • Familiarity with security measures and loss-prevention techniques

  • Physical abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, including working at elevated heights

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; aptitude for quick learning, problem solving and teamwork, as well as informed on contemporary issues and artistic concerns
