Oversees installation and de-installation of museums exhibitions. Emphasis is placed, but not limited to supervising preparators, construction, carpentry, and shop

Responsibilities

Head Preparator

  • Manage prep team in preparation of galleries, fabrication of case work, and AV technicians

  • ensures proper installation of exhibits

Art Handling Supervisor

  • Oversee careful and proper handling, hanging and moving of art objects.

  • Supervise unpacking, unloading, repacking, reloading, and framing works of art.

Assists in Art Handling

  • Assists with the physical handling and documentation in moving all works of art

  • Keeping track of location of works of art and notifying Senior Registrar as to physical location of works of art.

Lighting Master

  • Installs and maintains lighting in galleries

Gallery Maintenance

  • Maintains proper appearance including but not limited to paint touch-ups and cleaning of glass of all exhibitions to ensure necessary repairs and adjustments are made.

Storage Organizer

  • Monitors and maintains the condition of materials and art storage areas

Requirements

Art Handling Specialist

  • Extraordinarily sensitive to the correct handling and maintenance of Art work.

  • At least 5 years of experience handling art

Team Player

  • Ability to work and lead a diverse team

  • Communicate efficiently with the team (art handlers, registrars, exhibition manager, curators, director)

Multi-tasking Master

  • Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequently changing priorities.

  • ability to work on multiple projects at the same time
