Elmhurst Art Museum is seeking highly motivated Art Handlers/Preparators to work closely with the Exhibitions Manager for the upcoming exhibitions. Ideal candidates would work between August 26 - September 13 (flexible dates, availability during the weekend would be appreciated but is not necessary). The pay rate is $20/h. Please note that this is a temporary position.

Responsibilities

Duties August 26 - 30:

De-installing artwork for museum exhibitions

Packing artwork

Delivery of artworks from Elmhurst to Chicago, Countryside, and Romeoville with a rental uhaul

Duties September 2 - 13:

Installation of What Came After: Figurative Painting in Chicago 1978-1998 and McCormick House - Past, Present, Future

Wall patch & paint

Deinstallation & disposal of temporary walls

Artwork drop off with a rental uhaul from Chicago and Madison WI

Artwork pick up with a rental uhaul from Rockford.

Requirements

High attention to detail

professional, positive, can-do attitude

General knowledge of industry practices and tools/materials

Ability to handle objects of high value with care

knowledge of materials

Prior experience as an installer/art handler is a MUST

Driver’s license
