Position: Communication and Social Media Coordinator

Position Status: Contract / Part time

Hours: 15-25 hours per week

Pay: $18 - $22/hr (DOE)

Location: Remote (USA)

The Mural Co. (TMC) is looking for an ambitious person with a passion for graffiti/street art/mural culture, with demonstrated expertise in social media marketing, content creation and management, who has highly developed communication skills, and who wants to be a part of a tight-knit team. This position is fundamental to TMC’s external communication and social media marketing plan. TMC is looking for someone who is proactive and inspired, who will make the most out of their role and their potential within the company. This position starts as a remote, contract role with potential to evolve into permanent full-time status after initial 6-month review.

The Mural Co. is an award-winning creative mural agency based in the San Francisco Bay Area, and producing and curating large scale mural projects across the U.S. We specialize in large-scale murals, street art & urban contemporary art installations. As inspired muralists and street artists, we live to color the world with artwork that positively resonates and connects with people. Our passion is to create captivating, culturally relevant murals that enhance and transform spaces, engage audiences, and activate brands or campaigns. It’s our mission to continue to beautify our communities, including corporate workspaces and private spaces, with creative and powerful artwork that transforms otherwise empty blank walls.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative social media strategies that build on awareness and promotion of TMC and TMC-related projects.

  • Write all social media copy, consistently delivering on-brand voice posts that are 100% error-free across all social platforms.

  • Create impactful and compelling social media content (from existing photo & video content) that engages TMC’s audience, working closely with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Monitor daily execution of social media content (i.e. scheduling posts, liking photos, tweeting, sharing, increasing social outreach, etc.).

  • Manage social media KPIs and produce monthly recaps, optimizing performance of specific tactics against plan goals.

  • Monitor for brand mentions across all social media channels. Identify and engage with posts that provide an opportunity to positively impact brand reputation.

  • Collaborate with photography and video documentation partners, including briefing and overseeing photographers, videographers as needed during on-site projects.

  • Stay up-to-date on new social media tools and best practices, identifying ways for TMC to be at the forefront of social media trends.

  • Grow and manage TMC’s relationships with potential brand partners for sponsorship opportunities.

  • Develop creative concepts and write copy for marketing and advertising collateral such as blog posts for website, email newsletters, portfolio and other print collateral, press releases and more.

  • Ensure that TMC’s brand identity and voice are consistent across all channels.

  • Set and oversee project timelines for the design and production of media and marketing materials, ensuring projects remain on track to meet deadlines.

  • Manage day-to-day communications and operations with internal stakeholders, and partners regarding project timelines, files, specs, production issues, etc.

  • Manage and update all required onsite signage and marketing/collateral.

  • Provide exceptional attention to detail as the final marketing eye on all marketing creatives and assets: ensure copy is 100% correct, images are clear, etc.

  • Maintain image, video and digital asset archives, implementing a content management system to tag, organize and manage assets.

  • Stay up-to-date on street art world news, trends and brand partnerships.

Ways to Stand Out:

  • Minimum three years of progressively increasing experience and responsibility in a marketing, advertising, communications and/or social media role.

  • Strong proficiency in Google Business Suite, and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation skills and sound judgment in representing a rapidly growing creative mural agency.

  • Strong strategic planning, organizational and project management skills

  • Strong copy editing and proofreading skills and knowledge of AP and/or Chicago Style4

  • Demonstrated experience in planning, developing and producing a variety of high quality content including: blog posts, email newsletters, photo, video, print brochures and collateral, signage, etc.

  • Sophisticated visual and writing aesthetic.

  • Ability to take a creative, strategic and results-oriented approach to producing social media content

  • Aptitude with data analysis, technology platforms and social media monitoring tools

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Art History or other closely related field.

  • You are based in a major metropolitan U.S. city with a suitable and reliable home working environment.

  • You are a self-starter and proactive (as this is a remote position).

  • You have a genuine passion for graffiti/street art/mural culture.

  • You have social media and content management experience.

  • You are calm, kind, clear-minded, and have professional communication skills.

  • You have business development/marketing experience.

  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed to support on-site projects.

  • You are able to travel for mural projects and company offsites. (Note: this role requires some travel).

  • You are available to travel August 25 - September 14 and October 13 - November 9.
