To manage the Print Warehouse which involves the safe handling, storage and transportation of all Prints and Old Master Drawings through Christie’s auction process, providing an exceptional service to Christie’s departments and clients whilst maintaining strict adherence to all policies and procedures. Construct strong working relationships with all Operation teams and external contractors through the auction process. Work within a team and individually to set up auction exhibitions.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure all works of art are handled effectively and professionally, giving due care and attention to their individual and collective needs. Prioritise workload, work under pressure and to deadline

  • Preparing the artworks for pre-sale, lotting, cleaning, hinging, framing and mounting where necessary. Experience in hinging works on paper and cutting mounts is preferable but not essential

  • Liaise with photographers, framers and restorers to ensure all artworks are shot for the catalogue and artworks are ready for auction viewing

  • Assist saleroom art handlers with setting up of the pre-sale views, using the knowledge gained during pre-sale storage and handling to advise on specific handling and installing issues

  • Excellent computer skills, Excel and Word proficient. Training will be given for internal inventory database

  • Co-ordination of photography with department and photographers

  • Logistical support for specialists during cataloguing and hilling sessions

  • Maintain a very high standard of cleanliness and organisation, befitting of the world’s leading art business. Responsibility for accurate location and barcode maintenance of artworks

  • Undertake bi annual stock takes and process/resolve any queries and old stock

  • Liaise with saleroom supervisor pre-sale to ensure the sale is ready to transfer at the pre-agreed date

  • Collection & delivery of works of art from clients. Including hanging works in client’s homes

  • Supporting other departments when needed, as directed by Warehouse Manager

  • Supporting the set-up of on and off site views as required

Requirements
  • Ideally healthy, fit, hardworking and self-motivated

  • Experience in handling works of art and working with works on paper

  • Practical and hands-on approach to physical work

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills

  • Flexibility to work additional hours and weekends on or off site

  • Awareness of Health & Safety issues

  • Strong IT skills, proficient in Outlook and Excel

  • Common sense & the ability to work under pressure and prioritise

  • Smart appearance
