The candidate will manage the packing and shipping of merchandise for delivery to clients, assist in the arrangement of objects in the gallery for display, and the management of warehouse space and individual consignments.

  • Maintaining a well-organized warehouse, retail merchandise shelving, and gallery floor. Sorting and shelving merchandise by consignor (including tracking items upon receipt of same; occasionally this is a truckload or more of material) and making clear what property belongs to each consignor.

  • Receiving shipments of varying sizes, from single packages, to entire truckloads.

Other responsibilities will include, but shall not be limited to:

  • Assist bidders and auction staff on sale days to keep auction running smoothly.

  • Assist photographer and staff with preparing lots for imaging.

A well-qualified candidate will have a strong background in art handling (preferably two years experience), including shipping and packing procedures and processes, and must pay meticulous attention to detail.

Interest in arts, antiques, collectibles and/or art history is not required, but would be a big plus.
