Archive & Studio Coordinator

Shantell Martin Studio is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Archive & Studio Coordinator to help manage and build the operational systems that support the artist’s archive, artwork inventory, studio projects. Based in Jersey City, this role will work closely with the artist to organize and maintain physical and digital archives, oversee inventory and artwork records, coordinate storage and logistics, support exhibition and installation projects, and assist with the studio’s transition into its new permanent home later this year.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable working independently, has exceptional attention to detail, and takes pride in creating systems that preserve and support an artist’s work for years to come.
- Catalog artworks, publications, objects, and archival materials
Maintain and update inventory databases and artwork records
Assist with provenance, condition reports, and artwork documentation
Organize physical and digital archives
Track artwork locations and storage records
Art Handling & Logistics
Pack, unpack, and move artworks safely
Coordinate storage organization and inventory projects
Prepare works for shipment, exhibition, photography, and installation
Assist with studio and archive relocation projects
Manage supplies and storage systems
Administrative Support
Organize documents, invoices, receipts, and contracts
Support ongoing studio projects and exhibitions
Experience working in an artist studio, gallery, museum, archive, registrar department, or art handling environment
Comfortable navigating Google suite
Knowledge of art handling best practices
Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Comfortable working with databases (such as Artlogic), spreadsheets, and digital filing systems.
Ability to safely handle artwork and archival materials
Excellent written communication skills
Driver’s license strongly preferred
Ability to commute to Jersey City regularly
