Position Summary
We are seeking skilled and experienced Art Craters to work in our Sydney and Melbourne production facilities as well as in the field on complex tasks.
Ideally you will have worked in other commercial art crating or logistics companies, Museums, Galleries, and are seeking a challenging & rewarding role in a dynamic environment in Australia.
The roles will, subject to visa approval and conditions, be permanent full-time positions in our TED Fine Art Sydney and Melbourne Offices.
To meet the Visa requirements and the role itself, the successful candidates will be responsible for setting up and operating wood working machines and equipment, constructing, fitting out and packing of crates. These crates will be used to facilitate the safe transportation of paintings, artefacts and other objects for museums and institutions around the world.
The position will suit candidates who have:
A minimum 3 years’ experience in art crate construction & fitout
Carpentry, joinery and or framing skills
Extensive experience in handling, installation and packing of artworks and museum objects
Ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications.
Proficiency in using a variety of wood machining equipment.
Sound knowledge of safety standards and practices in a manufacturing environment.
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Physically fit and capable of performing the manual aspects of the role

Constructing crates to meet design specifications, quality standards, and durability requirements.
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and job sheets to follow project specifications
Designing the structures as well as identifying pressure points in each artefact and designing a solution that ensures their protection and safe movement.
Operating woodworking machinery such as saws, routers, and planers to achieve precise outcomes.
Mounting backing materials, supports for crating, and fitting and securing crate components.
Determining the tools and machines required to create crates and the sequence of their operation
Fitting and fastening frames and structures
Qualification & Experience
Ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications.

Clear Police record

Wages and conditions will be negotiated with the successful applicant and will include:
38-hour ordinary work week – overtime is available
Wages paid weekly by EFT into your nominated bank account
Annual Vacation of four (4) weeks
Paid personal and carers leave of up to 10 days per annum
Superannuation paid equivalent to 11.5% of salary into an Australian retirement/superannuation fund
Full health insurance cover subject to a pre-qualifying medical examination
