We are currently looking to hire an Art Handler to join our team at Baldwin Fine Art & Residential. Since Baldwin provides services to private clients as well as large institutions, this position requires individuals who are able to work and adapt in a variety of different environments with clients and coworkers alike. This is a part time position with the possibility of full time employment after a 3-month probationary period. Preference will be given to those with crew chief / onsite management experience as well as those with the proven ability to operate a box truck. Position is hourly. Compensation based on experience.
Responsibilities
Art Handlers / Installers are responsible for packing, installing, and transporting artwork in a safe and secure manner.
Handle and move fine art, decorative art, and fine furniture: Use of appropriate packing, crating, and safety techniques.
Packing, loading, and unloading of trucks to ensure safe transit.
On-site packing and installation of artwork in galleries, museums, and client’s homes.
Conduct condition checks for various types of artwork: Identifying, noting, and documenting conditions with appropriate language.
Communicating and coordinating with crew chiefs, crew, and clients on site in a professional manner.
Completion of paperwork and BOLs.
Operating/maintaining company vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, arriving at destinations on schedule.
Requirements
A minimum of 2 years experience art handling / installing in a similar role
Working knowledge and interest in fine art, decorative art, design, or similar
Knowledge of industry-standard packing, crating, and installation techniques and materials
Proactive, organized, team player with the ability to effectively communicate instructions
Familiarity with Paperwork, BOLs, Inventory, Daily Logs, etc
Experience with databases and art/archival collections is a plus
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Willing to drive up to 8hrs when needed
Available to work several days out of town for installation and deinstallation of exhibitions
Positive and professional attitude
