Registrar duties shall include, but not be limited to:
Arrange shipments and transportation of artworks
Organise both international and domestic shipping of art in time for exhibitions, loans, sales and fairs.
Complete the process of cataloguing, conditioning and labelling when it comes to incoming and existing artwork.
Liaise with the logistics team regarding the best quotes on international and domestic shipping.
Produce all documentation for shipments, updating the galleries system with documents and shipment records.
Manage the galleries inventory database.
Oversee the storage of the artwork certifying safety for the storage of the artwork.
Ensure the gallery space and artwork is always prepared for viewings.
Plan exhibition spaces, as well as the installation, art fairs, budgeting.
Arrange and schedule art handlers for before and after fairs/exhibitions.
Restock any packing materials as well as office supplies.
Act as front of house, greeting clients when required.
Art Handler duties shall include, but not be limited to:
Handling and installations of all artworks including paintings, sculptures, design objects, or digital media
Ensure the artwork is prepared for exhibitions, art fairs, photography, loans, or viewing rooms
Ensure all artwork is catalogued into the gallery database and is constantly kept up to date and accurate
Perform condition checks on a variety of artwork
Work alongside the Registrar team to ensure accurate record collections and deliveries of artworks on-site and off-site
Ensure condition checks and packing is completed to a high standard to prepare the artwork for local and international shipping
Assist with the upkeep of the gallery and viewing rooms
Provide offsite support for client services, site visits, photography, and art fairs
Ensure that any storage rooms are organized
Organize the tools and supply areas
Assist with annual inventories of all artworks within the gallery and within local storage locations
Ensure other ad hoc tasks or projects are completed when required
Experience of working in a Gallery or Auction House or similar organisation is essential.
Demonstrate knowledge of the best practices and materials for handling and packing the artwork
Show a diverse understanding and skill set for installing a wide range of different artworks
Experience carrying out artwork shipments is required for this position.
Show the ability to work in a face-paced environment by remaining organized
Fantastic motivation and attention to detail is crucial.
Previous inventory management skills.
Willingness to learn
Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Ability to lift and move any heavy objects when required
Excellent written and communication skills.
Hold a valid driver’s license
