Responsibilities include the safe handling of artwork, as well as supporting the team with handling and receiving artwork. You will be responsible for the completion of installations, de-installations, as well as packing artworks and site preparation. This is a freelance, project-by-project-based position. Must have a valid drivers license and the ability to drive box trucks for the transportation of artwork.

Responsibilities
  • Installation and de-installation of rotating exhibitions and viewing rooms

  • Conducting condition checks for various types of artwork: identifying, noting, and documenting conditions

  • Locating artworks in storage areas

  • Preparing the space for client viewings including painting, patching, and installation

  • Assist with receiving and releasing artworks and loading/off-loading trucks

  • Ensure the safe packing of works for shipping and storage

  • Responsible for gallery storage and maintenance

  • Complete any other ad hoc tasks and projects as necessary

  • Driving artwork locally

Requirements

Skills required:

  • Must have a valid drivers license and ability to drive trucks for transport of artwork

  • Candidate must be an expert at art handling and installation.

  • Have general knowledge of tools and materials

  • Knowledge of best practices and materials for handling, installing, and packing artwork

  • Capable of safely handling & packing artwork for transit

  • Carpentry and building skills is a plus

  • Patient and calm demeanor in high pressure situations

  • Neat, careful, and clean

  • Detail-oriented and organized

  • Problem solver

  • A team player
