Central Server Works is an art gallery with two locations in Los Angeles. We are looking for a freelance Art Packing Specialist to provide, packing, transporting, and shipping logistics in service of our contemporary art exhibitions and sales.
Three years of professional practice as an art handler is a must. Background in fine art packing and shipping, and clean driving record.
Responsibilities
Lead on packing of artworks with 10 - 30 hours monthly scheduled around Art Packing Specialist existing commitments.
Labeling each shipment, crate, package, and item appropriately and accurately.
Writing accurate condition reports and providing photo documentation when requested.
Maintaining the confidentiality of the gallery, exhibiting artists, and client’s privacy and personal property.
Requirements
Three (3) years of experience working as an art handler, preparator, or installation technician in a fine art context
Knowledge of and interest in contemporary art
Knowledge of museum standard strategies for safe handling and packing.
Proficient in multiple packing and crating techniques including soft pack construction for paintings and sculptures
Experience moving artworks with dolly, pallet jack.
Ability to stay motivated, organized and accurate throughout the day
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and stand for extended periods of time
Reliable transportation to our DTLA location
