Monday – Friday (Full-time, salaried exempt)

David Kordansky Gallery seeks a highly motivated, extremely organized, and collaborative individual to join our team as Artist Liaison. The Artist Liaison is a critical role acting as the primary point of contact for gallery artists. The Artist Liaison manages artists and their projects (exhibitions, fairs, the production of new work) and coordinates all communication between gallery staff, artists and their studios, as well as related museums and galleries. This position is a full-time role (Monday through Friday), requiring flexibility for additional hours during evening and weekend events, and may include a limited amount of travel. Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Management of artists from gallery roster, including fostering and maintaining close relationships by advising and advocating for artists’ needs and best interests

  • Coordinate artists’ gallery exhibitions and fair presentations

  • Schedule studio visits, coordinate hospitality needs, organize artist meetings and travel

  • Communicate regularly with artists, offering support, gathering information, and reporting back to gallery staff on artwork production, fabrication, exhibitions, presentations, special events, applications, works at auction, and press requests

  • Research, develop, and retain an in-depth knowledge of artists’ practices and biographies, communicating this knowledge to staff, clients, and visitors in an articulate, professional manner

  • Manage artists’ production, exhibition, and fair schedules, and communicate these deadlines to the artists

  • Communicate details of new artwork inventory to gallery staff, supporting artists and the sales team in the presentation of new work

  • Monitor the documentation of artists’ projects and, with the Archivist and Registrars, ensure records are updated

  • Liaise between artists, museums, and gallery staff for institutional exhibitions, acting as the main contact at the gallery for exhibition project coordination

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of contemporary art and experience working at a commercial art gallery required; experience working at a contemporary art museum may be considered

  • Bachelor’s degree in art history or related field required; advanced degree preferred

  • At least two (2) years of professional experience as an artist liaison, sales assistant / associate, or assistant / associate curator required; four (4) years of experience preferred

  • Advanced skills in a Mac-based environment required, including: Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Sheets); Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat and Photoshop)

  • Basic knowledge of databases such as ArtBase / FileMaker (or similar) preferred

  • Highly detail-oriented, editorially minded, and precise, with exceptional organizational skills

  • Enjoys project and people management; can complete tasks with persistence, patience, and discretion

  • Adept at creative problem-solving, anticipating and resolving issues quickly

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator

  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Self-motivated, responsible, and efficient

  • Fluent in English; fluency in an additional language welcomed

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

  • This is a full-time salaried position

  • The pay scale for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year

  • This position is based in Los Angeles, CA.

  • During the pandemic, approximately 40% of the work required of this position can be completed remotely, with weekly in-person work required.
