Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager will report to the Director of Design & Development and will be responsible for supporting the planning and execution of a wide range of building and site construction projects. The Assistant Project Manager will coordinate and manage all necessary project tasks from design completion to construction administration and oversight.

The ideal candidate will possess an academic background or professional experience in the field of construction management, architecture, engineering or similar field. The candidate will possess excellent organizational and time-management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Responsibilities
  • Contractor sourcing and evaluation.

  • Review and level contractor bids.

  • Develop and track construction schedule.

  • Assistance with contract development and execution.

  • Organize and document weekly progress meetings.

  • Review and process contractor payment applications and vendor invoices.

  • Review and track submittals, PCO’s, RFI’s.

  • Ensure quality control during construction.

  • Ensure the project is running on schedule and on budget.

  • Monitor construction progress through on-site foremen.

  • Obtain permits from local jurisdictions.

Requirements
  • B.S. degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field.

  • 3-5 years of experience as an assistant project manager, a junior project manager, construction manager, or similar position in a related field.

  • Computer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Microsoft Project.

  • Knowledge of construction management process from design conception to construction completion.

  • Able to work well in a team as well as independently.

  • Ability to review construction drawings and specifications required for construction.

  • Excellent time and project management skills.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently.

  • Problem-solving skills to strategize innovative solutions.

  • Goal oriented and self-motivated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of local, state and federal building code regulations.

  • Computer skills: Knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Construction cost estimating background or experience.
