Studio Tomás Saraceno, an international practice merging art, architecture and scientific-related fields, is currently seeking a multi-skilled Assistant to the Head of Research and Communication to join the internationally renowned artist’s team and support the global activity of the Research and Communication department.
The purpose of the role is to contribute via text production, communications, public programming and administrative responsibilities to the artist’s vision that is informed by concepts linking art, life science, and the social sciences. The work of the Communications assistant will further the studio’s aim towards sensory solidarity with the planet through a social, mental, and environmental ecology of practice. You will support the Head of Research and Communication and maintain a strong knowledge of the content, concept and focus of the various projects across the studio, as well as Aerocene and Arachnophilia.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist in conducting research, writing, editing, sourcing images and producing content for competitions, exhibitions, artworks, portfolios and proposals (EN required/DE strongly preferred);
Filter and respond to incoming communications requests (Press, Lecture, Publication, Residency, etc) for STS, Aerocene and Arachnophilia; updating the Studio Press Package; maintaining the contact database of different stakeholders and regularly updating the Studio calendars with significant dates and important deadlines.
Assist in the public relations when preparing for openings and events as well as Studio tours.
Assist in the creation of publications by writing, reading and editing texts, tracking invitations to contribute and organizing launches.
Assist in the creation of public programming when invited to contribute by individuals and community groups; this includes writing, maintaining an overview of collaborations and an index of the activities.
Assisting in maintaining and optimizing departmental paper and digital archives in coordination with the Archivist of: the artists’ brainstorms across projects, server folders, the studio library, artwork descriptions, technical captions, research, post-project documentation and bibliography.
About You
You have at least 2 years experience working and very good knowledge in the field of public relations, press and digital communication, composing press releases, putting together press packages, and working across different social media platforms: from Instagram, Facebook, Twitter pages, to cross-channel management tools
You have a degree in Art History, Philosophy, Communications, Media or any related field; background in Public Relations and Graphic Design or Photography is also desirable
You have excellent English with oral and written communication skills, German and/or Spanish are desirable
You have excellent writing and editing skills with very good knowledge of Adobe: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Proficiency in MS Office and Mendeley
You can layout design materials (presentations, booklets, invitations)
You have excellent time management skills, an ability to work under pressure, set priorities, manage a number of tasks concurrently and work independently
You have a flexible and committed attitude to work
You are highly motivated and able to demonstrate initiative in a large team
You have an affinity to art, science and environmental values
In sum: Public Relations, Press Management, Written Communication, Copy-writing, Editing, Archiving, Problem Solving, Project Management, Presentation Skills, Deadline-Oriented, Event Programming, Flexibility to take Feedback are key requirements for this position.

The Studio Tomás Saraceno is an ongoing research entity founded by the artist Tomás Saraceno and driven by his visions, shaped by the worlds of art, architecture, natural sciences, astrophysics and engineering; his floating sculptures, community projects and interactive installations propose and explore new, sustainable ways of inhabiting and sensing the environment.
