The Wellcome Collections and Research department are looking for a talented individual to join their team as a Cataloguing Team Leader.

The cataloguing team creates and maintains a diverse range of descriptive, bibliographic and management information about Wellcome’s collections, aiming to maximise access across all collections and formats, physical and digital. They savour a mix of cataloguing, sensitivity review, and data management activities, working together as a multidisciplinary team to develop and streamline collections information practice across collections types, and ensuring that access to the collections is always lawful, ethical and responsible.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and managing a high-performing, multidisciplinary cataloguing team of archivists, librarians and museum professionals, who are responsible for collections description, sensitivity review, and associated collections information tasks related to discovery and access.

The Cataloguing Team Leader will support the team to deliver continuous improvements to collections access, challenging them to think deeply about different ways in which collections could be represented and presented to diverse audiences.

Requirements

To be successful in this role we are looking for…

  • An experienced team leader with the ability to coach, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary and high-performing team to deliver its objectives

  • A clear, demonstrable understanding of legal and ethical considerations relevant to Wellcome Collection

  • Proven capacity to think innovatively and creatively, with the confidence to experiment with new approaches, and to promote and manage change

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject
