Wellcome Collection is looking for a talented individual to join their team as a Collections Development Manager on a 12-month basis to cover maternity.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our collections, both physical and digital, remain an outstanding resource for challenging the way we all think and feel about health by linking science, medicine, life and art.
The team takes a holistic view of our collections, making collection development decisions based on knowledge and understanding of the whole. They work flexibly across types of material, such as archives, printed and published, visual culture and moving image and sound.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Highly-developed people management skills with demonstrable experience of developing talent, managing team performance and building an inclusive team culture
An excellent grasp of the main issues relating to the acquisition, management and disposal of materials commonly found in heritage collections
Proven experience of working with born-digital material
A good understanding of sectoral theory relating to collections development and experience of putting this into practice
Knowledge of legal and ethical frameworks relating to collections development activity
Experience of developing innovative and proactive collections development initiatives or methodologies
A passion for inclusive approaches to collections development
