An Introduction to Glenstone Museum
Founded with the mission to seamlessly integrate art, architecture, and nature in a serene and contemplative environment, Glenstone is an art museum located on nearly 300 acres of rolling hills and unspoiled woodland in Potomac, Maryland. The museum, opened in 2006 and expanded in 2018, offers nearly 60,000 square feet of exhibition space to showcase its collection of more than 1,300 works by more than 200 contemporary artists. Glenstone welcomes the public four days a week and admission is always free.

Position Overview
The two-year conservation fellowship will provide a unique opportunity to work with Glenstone’s superlative collection of post-World War II artworks. The fellowship is specific to modern and contemporary art, but open to applicants with experience in the following specialties:

Media Conservation
Objects Conservation
Paintings Conservation
Photograph Conservation
Preventive Conservation
The fellow will examine, research, and treat artworks within their specialty, as well as contribute to the museum’s preventive conservation activities. Due to the distinct challenges posed by contemporary art, Glenstone’s conservation program is collaborative in nature. As such, there will be occasions to work with other conservators, museum professionals, galleries, artists, and their studios or foundations.
Requirements
Desired Attributes & Characteristics
Candidates should have a graduate degree from a recognized conservation or digital preservation program, and experience with modern and contemporary art. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
Stipend & Benefits
The two-year fellowship includes an annual stipend of $49,000 plus benefits and support for research and travel to conferences.
