For this limited-term position, which runs through June 11, 2021, the Senior Content Producer develops, writes, and publishes content across multiple digital platforms. The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding of online platforms, such as eNewsletters, social channels, microsites, and web pages, and has a proven track record of coordinated omni-channel storytelling and writing, managing platforms, and producing useful and captivating content for various audiences. The Getty Research Institute is an international center for the study of visual culture and houses one of the largest art libraries in the world, with vast special collections materials ranging from the 15th century to the present.

Targeted Hiring Range $63,587.68 - $82,675.84 Annually

Responsibilities
  • Create and/or produce original and adaptive material for various media channels and participate in all details related to production.

  • Gather assets, write, edit, produce, and manage digital content projects and platforms.

  • Populate and manage editorial calendar, develop complex production schedules, write, copyedit, and edit digital content, using project management tools such as Intervals to successfully manage all stages of a project.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify project scope and deliverables.

  • Ensures deadlines are met and communicates with a broad range of staff to deliver content.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or Digital Media Production; Master’s degree a plus

  • Excellent writing, editing, and content design skills to create and publish content

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple digital projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as web pages, e-newsletters, and social media

  • A strong background in arts and humanities and an understanding of a cultural research environment is highly preferred

  • A proven self-starter who can work independently as well as work in a highly collaborative, team environment.

  • Enthusiasm for the web and its potential in a cultural research environment.

  • Understanding of best practices in user-centered design and UX disciplines is highly desirable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Writing and content design:

  • Outstanding narrative writing ability, with facility for both informational and storytelling content

  • Expertise in discovering story ledes in dense or specialized art history text and tailoring for platform and audience

  • Proven ability to write and adapt content across a range of digital platforms from social, to eNewsletters, to web pages

  • Successfully adapt branding guidelines; apply knowledge of best practices in content strategy and communications to multimedia, text, and images

  • Ability to analyze campaigns and metrics feedback and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into content planning and creation

  • Execute strong CTAs, headlines, and compelling ledes

  • Iterate and rewrite in a fast-paced environment

Editorial:

  • Proven ability to tactfully give and receive feedback

  • Expert knowledge of Chicago and AP style

  • Meticulous copy editing and editorial skills

  • Ability to adapt existing style guidelines to text and content pieces

  • Demonstrated ability to diplomatically communicate edits and rewrites with a wide range of staff

Project Management:

  • Expertise in creating and managing editorial schedules

  • Proven ability to multitask and meet competing and multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to quickly respond and adapt to changing priorities

  • Maintain editorial calendar that contains running story topics and publication schedule

  • Outstanding ability to tactfully communicate deadlines, manage competing priorities, and keep projects on schedule

  • Develops new skills and levels of technical agility, and learns new software to expand possibilities of media production. Keeps current with trends and innovations in the media community.

  • Expert attention to detail needed to create and maintain asset libraries, folders, tags, and metadata across systems

Digital Media:

  • Proficiency in media creation and production tools. Working knowledge of content management systems; Creative Suite; project management software tools such as Trello, Intervals, and AirTable.

  • Skill in selecting and adapting image and video assets for various content purposes and platforms

  • Ability to crop and position images with an eye for composition and detail

  • Working knowledge of video editing and other tools for creatively presenting digital content is a plus
