We are looking for a full time New York based Graphic Designer to join our team. Our Design team works closely with the institution and its artists to create unique solutions for a wide variety of projects in both traditional and non-traditional media. The focus is on publications, exhibitions, wayfinding, branding, and web design that support strategic marketing and branding goals. The Graphic Designer will report to the Director of Design and be responsible for creating and managing graphic design projects for the organization’s robust offering of exhibitions, concerts, multimedia interventions, education and public programs.
The Graphic Designer will be responsible for maintenance, inventory, and general operation of the Design Lab, our in-house, designer-run, print and production space for the institution and its artists. Additionally, the Graphic Designer will assist in the coordination of activities in the Lab during public events and open studios.
The Graphic Designer will be joining a dynamic team in our open and flexible 25,000-square-foot space. We encourage a transparent, collaborative environment where international artists, musicians, scientists, and educators co-exist and work together.
Work with the organization to apply and maintain a visual brand identity across all media outlets
Conceptualize and produce creative across multiple media and messaging platforms (print, online, social media, branding, presentations and more)
Produce technical publication and print files and prep for final production
Prioritize tasks, turnaround times, scheduling conflicts, revisions and technical challenges effectively
Superior presentation skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external decision makers and influencers
Ability to work with and throughout a broad organization and manage multiple projects
Ability to work/communicate with outside vendors in required media
Support other graphic design and marketing projects as requested
Documentation and display of completed projects across all media
BFA or BA degree in design (or equivalent job experience)
Publication & Branding Design experience in the field of Art & Design
2+ years of related design experience
Experience and fluency in all current Adobe Creative Suite design programs
Strong understanding of design and print production processes, experience on press strongly preferred
Fluency with web design, (CSS, HTML and wireframing) strongly preferred
Proficiency with equipment including: large-format inkjet plotter, risograph, vinyl-cutter, & hand tools
Experience managing budgets
Design portfolio containing both branding and print design
Strong written and verbal communication skills
