Studio Tomás Saraceno, an international practice merging art, architecture and scientific-related fields, is currently seeking a multi-skilled Digital Communications Officer to join the internationally renowned artist’s team and support the global activity of the Research and Communication department.
The purpose of this role is to radically improve digital communications to contribute to the artist’s vision that is informed by concepts linking art, life science, and the social sciences. The work of the Digital Communications Officer will further the studio’s aim towards sensory solidarity with the planet through a social, mental, and environmental ecology of practice.
You will define the strategy, approach and content for digital communications and presence together with the artist, Head of Research and Communications, and Head of Media. This also includes the development, scheduling, delivery and management of high-quality, accurate and timely content across all digital communications platforms.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Monitor and update STS, Aerocene and Arachnophilia’s online presence
Produce a quarterly Newsletter with the assistant to the Head of Research and Communication
Support large projects and events digitally as well as manage their communities
Create website architecture and content strategy that complements the communications strategy
Propose structural improvements to studiotomassaraceno.org, aerocene.org and arachnophilia.net
Update websites at a steady pace creating traffic to them: create new content, improve existing pages, include news and add exhibitions
Develop and improve online activity, ensuring optimised user experience
Monitor digital channels, create quarterly reports measuring growth, impact and engagement
Coordinate and maintain digital communication channels, including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Arachnomancy App
Create dynamic written graphic and video content that promotes audience interaction, increases its presence on studio sites, and encourages participation
Plan a comprehensive calendar of posts, regularly update social media channels
Maintain an overview digital media outreach, optimise content
Analyse and report audience information and demographics, and success social media projects
UI/UX design, visual outlining proposed changes, updates through the use of Figma, or similar software
Implement updates with backend developers.
You have 2-4 years experience working and very good knowledge in the field of public relations or digital communication across different social media platforms: from instagram, public Facebook pages to cross-channel management tools
You have a degree in Art History, Philosophy, Communications, Media or related fields; backgrounds in Public Relations and Graphic Design or Photography are also desirable;
You have the ability to tell a compelling and intellectually strong story in English with excellent oral and written communication skills; German and/or Spanish are desirable;
You have excellent time management skills, you thrive working under pressure and great at setting priorities
You can manage a number of tasks concurrently and work independently
You have a flexible and committed attitude to work
You are highly motivated and able to take initiative in a large team
You have an affinity to art, science and environmental values
You show excellent writing and editing skills with very good knowledge of Adobe: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop; Proficiency in MS Office; UI/UX design, Figma (or similar software)
You are convincing in the experience and knowledge of web mastering and CMS, especially in WordPress, but other systems are also desirable
You are familiar with internet programming languages as HTML, Java, or others would be a strong benefit
You can layout design materials (presentations, booklets, invitations);
In sum: Web Development, Project Management, Digital Storytelling, Presentation Skills, Written Communication, Graphic Design Skills, Layout Skills, Problem Solving, Deadline-Oriented, Social Media Mastery are key requirements for this position.
The Studio Tomás Saraceno is an ongoing research entity founded by the artist Tomás Saraceno and driven by his visions, shaped by the worlds of art, architecture, natural sciences, astrophysics and engineering; his floating sculptures, community projects and interactive installations propose and explore new, sustainable ways of inhabiting and sensing the environment.
