Goodman Taft is a curatorial and advisory firm with a focus on global contemporary and modern art. The Director position at Goodman Taft (GT) will serve as a primary contact with clients, galleries, auction houses, and institutions. The Director will work in close collaboration with, and in support of, the three principals and is a leadership position in our firm. Applicants should have a minimum of 5-10 years of relevant gallery, auction or advisory experience. GT is headquartered in Cambridge, MA and New York, NY and we encourage applicants from these cities, London and Los Angeles to apply.
Responsibilities
Global exhibitions, fairs and auctions:
- Comprehensive review of exhibitions at museums and galleries globally, as well as art fairs and auctions, followed by dissemination of relevant opportunities to our team and clients, creating possibilities for learning and acquisitions.
Client Services:
The director will act as a lead or co-lead on defined projects, developing strategies for collection building and public projects in collaboration with the senior curatorial team, traveling as needed to attend meetings, installations and art world events with clients.
The director will also assist in managing acquisitions, de-accessions, and installations independently from inception through to completion.
GT Management:
The director will mentor and manage relevant staff, and oversee their work to ensure the highest levels of professionalism. They will work with colleagues to suggest and develop improved protocols for all areas of our work.
The director will be a part of selected business development dialogues and will have responsibilities in this area. #LI-D
