We currently have a vacancy for a Driver/Fine Art Technician in our Transport Department. Previous comparable experience is essential for this position.

The post holder will drive Momart’s heavy goods and Sprinter vehicles, and be responsible for loading, securing and unloading artworks. Our vehicles are manned by two technicians.

Art handling onsite, including packing, unpacking and installation is also part of this role, along with the accurate completion of all associated paperwork. A period of art handling training will be included at the start of employment.

This position will be 45 hours per week, with a reasonable amount of overtime required during busy periods, so some flexibility would be advantageous.

Responsibilities
  • Safe handling of works utilising lifting equipment appropriate to the task.

  • Wrap and pack fragile art objects (intensive training given).

  • Completion of operational paper work.

  • Following procedures as required by company security policy.

  • Safe transportation of art objects and their escorts on Momart specialised vehicles.

  • Communicate with job co-ordinators as necessary.

  • Work closely with other technicians on site.

Requirements
  • Full driving licence. HGV2 is a requirement. A Class 1 licence would be advantageous, but training will be provided if required.

  • Flexible individual – hours of work may vary according to business needs.

  • Able to work closely with other technicians for sustained periods whilst travelling on Momart vehicles (Overnight accommodation will be either on Momart vehicle or locally booked hotel/B&B)

  • An understanding of the fragility and importance of the items being moved.

  • An approachable communicator who is comfortable with dealing with all levels of the public

  • Conscientious individual who is positive, motivated, vigilant and responsible.

  • A checkable 5 year background and a clean criminal record of essential.
