Evening Crew Packer and Fabricator: Packing Department

Boxart

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Evening Crew Packer and Fabricator to join our Packing Department.

This is a hands-on production role working primarily in-house at our facility from approximately 12:00 PM–8:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The position will focus on packing artwork and preparing custom packing components, crate interiors, and materials for upcoming projects.

The Evening Crew Packer will work with a wide range of artworks, packing materials, and fabrication methods and will be responsible for developing and executing safe, precise, and efficient packing solutions.

We are looking for someone with strong fabrication skills, good spatial judgment, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with our Packing, Crating, Design, and Production teams.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include:

  • Packing and unpacking artwork in-house

  • Fabricating custom packing, fitting, cushioning, and support solutions for individual artworks

  • Preparing artwork for transport, storage, exhibition, and installation

  • Preparing crates and packing components for upcoming projects

  • Fabricating foam, board, archival, and other custom interior components

  • Preparing and fitting crate interiors

  • Fitting completed packing components and artwork into crates

  • Preparing, organizing, and staging materials for upcoming packing projects

  • Reading and following cut sheets, measurements, packing instructions, and project specifications

  • Taking accurate measurements and documenting packing requirements

  • Working with Packing, Crating, Design, and Production staff to troubleshoot and develop packing solutions

  • Completing production work independently during the later portion of the shift

  • Maintaining an organized, clean, and safe production workspace

The position will have access to a fully equipped carpentry and fabrication shop, tools, equipment, and a wide range of packing and specialty materials.

Requirements

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in fine art packing, fabrication, museum preparation, art handling, art installation, carpentry, construction, or related technical fields.

A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in a fabrication studio, art services company, museum, gallery, workshop, or similar environment is preferred.

Strong candidates will demonstrate:

  • Experience safely handling and packing artwork or similarly fragile and valuable objects

  • Strong hands-on fabrication and problem-solving skills

  • Familiarity with packing, fabrication, and cushioning materials

  • Ability to take accurate measurements and follow detailed instructions

  • Strong spatial awareness and attention to detail

  • Consistently high standards for quality and craftsmanship

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Good communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize and complete assigned production work efficiently

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and professional workspace

Because this position extends beyond the primary daytime production schedule, candidates should be comfortable working independently and maintaining established production, quality, and safety standards with limited supervision during portions of the shift.

To apply, submit your resume, a cover letter, and an optional portfolio of previous work.

Optional Portfolio

If you have photographs of previous work that demonstrate skills or experience relevant to this position, we welcome you to include a portfolio with your application.
