SCAD seeks an Executive Writer to create fashion- and style-focused content for the university’s executive office, including interview Q&As, event design and preparation, presidential speeches, VIP introductions, PR, and more.

As an Executive Writer, you will join a team of writers who report to the Director of Executive Communication. This position requires independent research, coordination, and consolidation of information gathered from multiple areas, as well as flexibility to meet changing deadlines and priorities.

The ideal candidate must be story-oriented and flexible enough to write about a range of SCAD-related subjects, including the university’s history, alumni, degree programs, and museums, as well as current trends in couture, art, interior design, tech, and higher education. The candidate must draft, proofread, and edit with speed and alacrity; capture the voice of the presenter quickly and accurately; write with wit, warmth, and intelligence; develop relationships with subject matter experts across the university; respond to feedback with positivity and eagerness; collaborate with multiple editors; and meet the highest standards of composition.

Preferred candidates will also demonstrate a track record of creative storytelling, quality writing, and excellent research and fact-checking. The candidate should be able to manage concurrent, urgent projects, and possess the ability to thrive in an extremely fast-paced environment. Strong candidates will have experience in pitching story ideas with excellent presentation skills, and will have published, under their personal byline, articles for fashion and style venues such as Vogue, WWD, Elle, Foam, Azure, etc. Interpersonal charm is valuable in this position!

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree or higher preferred.

  • Experience writing or ghostwriting for major publications and outlets, writing for the highest executives in an organization, and/or professional knowledge of higher education or the creative disciplines taught at SCAD.
