The Exhibition and Programming Coordinator supports the Chief Curator and Director of Programming with the concept development, scheduling, practical organization, and realization of all exhibitions and programs organized by the Wende Museum.
The Wende produces four exhibitions per year and organizes a variety of programs, both virtual and onsite. This position combines a passion for research and curation with the practical skills needed to help realize experimental exhibition design and cutting-edge programming.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees all practical aspects of exhibition planning and installation, including the creation of exhibition design models, schedules, object lists, budgets, and installation guides
Supports exhibition research, including drafting and editing texts and images, as well as research for related programming
Works with the museum databases to track exhibition-related information
Works with the Collections Department to display objects according to best practices and museum standards
Supervises work by contractors, vendors, art handlers, and other contributors to the construction and installation process
Organizes external loans from other institutions, galleries, and contemporary artists, including agreements and shipping
Coordinates across departments to ensure exhibition- and programming-related deadlines are met.
Supports exhibition-related docent training, supervises curatorial interns and volunteers
Supports the development and practical organization of on-site and online programs, establishes and maintains contacts with potential speakers and performers
This is a coordinator-level staff position with inter-department exposure. The position reports to the Chief Curator and Director of Programming and works in regular cooperation with the Head of Collections and Education Manager.
Regular, on-site attendance is required.
An average workweek of 40 hours is expected.

Required Qualifications
BA in a relevant academic discipline (History, Art History, Architecture, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, etc.)
Strong writing and communication skills
Experience with typography and print preparation
Experience with working with vendors to oversee the production of materials
Understanding of ADA guidelines
Strong computer skills with advanced expertise in Microsoft Office Suite
Advanced expertise in a variety of Adobe design programs
Experience with exhibition design software (SketchUp, Rhino)
Experience in working with museum database programs
Experience with collection handling
