The Living Room, a project space devoted to art in the context of design, is seeking a seasonal exhibition manager in East Hampton, NY. The exhibition manager will handle sales, inventory management, shipping, and installation. Working closely with the founder, they will coordinate programming throughout the summer.
The position is Tuesday through Saturday during open gallery hours, May-September/October 2022, with additional workdays during installations. The candidate should have a sense of enthusiasm, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
Coordinate with art handlers and storage to ensure smooth turnaround between exhibitions
Coordinate with artists and galleries to transport art, secure necessary contracts and install exhibition
Track inventory, sales, invoicing, and payments
Oversee shipping of all incoming and outgoing artworks
Produce monthly newsletters and exhibition materials, including artist statements and artwork lists
Maintain the gallery contact database
Experience working in an art gallery or similar environment
Knowledge of art and interior design
Strong organizational skills
Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work graciously in a fast-paced environment
Outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
