Edwynn Houk Gallery, specializing in masters of twentieth-century and contemporary photography, is seeking a full-time framer/art handler to join a dedicated gallery team.
We are seeking an individual with experience cutting mats by hand, archival hinging, glass cutting, and fitting frames that are small enough to frame in-house. For larger scale works, the successful candidate will supervise any out-sourced production, including printing, mounting and framing, packing and shipping, installation, and will work closely with our Managing Director to coordinate, oversee, and track each step of the process.
Responsibilities
The gallery typically mounts 6-8 exhibitions in its New York gallery, as well as participates in 7-8 art fairs/year. The candidate will plan ahead for the upcoming exhibitions and art fairs in order to oversee all of the deadlines for framing, installation, and shipping.
Managing all of the day-to-day gallery tasks, in addition to our exhibitions and art fairs, requires the skill of working carefully and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prioritizing and organization are essential. Punctuality and reliability are critical.
Requirements
A professional and enthusiastic demeanor are equally as important to the success of this candidate, which also requires a positive approach, working well with peers and clients.
Candidate must have a minimum of three years of experience working as a framer/art handler. Salary is commensurate with experience.
