The school grants Master of Fine Arts degrees to students completing a two-year program in graphic design, painting/printmaking, photography, or sculpture and offers an undergraduate art major.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Fabrication Shop Manager is responsible for the operations and safety protocols of the 36 Edgewood Fabrication Shop at the School of Art. The Shop Manager will provide equipment/shop training to students, oversee the daily operation of the fabrication shops, including the wood and metal areas, with a focus on the wood area, maintain and repair equipment, provide support to students with specific shop and fabrication needs across all four departments at the School of Art. Students work on a variety of art projects across media in the Fabrication shop, sometimes for installation in critique and gallery spaces throughout the School. The Shop Manager works with the Fabrication Shop Coordinator (a faculty member) and manages Shop Technicians (temporary/casual staff members) and Student Monitors (work/study). The Shop Manager orders and maintains the inventory of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment. They will regularly interface with Facilities, Yale’s Offices of Environmental Health and Safety and Risk Management, as well as the Yale Fire Marshal on weekly compliance and in relation to special projects and activities.
