The Financial Analyst is an integral member of the Financial Planning and Analysis team whose overarching responsibilities are to assist the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis, in liaising with the business units across the college to support planning, budgeting, and management. This is an important and highly visible position, where solid experience in enterprise systems, financial analysis and business modeling are required.
This is a full-time, temporary role lasting approximately 8 months.
Budget Implementation
The Financial Analyst assists the Director and campus leadership in developing the annual budget for presentation to the CCA Board of Trustees.
Budget Management and Variance Reporting
The Financial Analyst works with stakeholders in other units and with other members of the Business Office to understand needs and make recommendations to improve workflow and service capability of the Business Office (notably as they relate to budget management). The Financial Analyst assists in fostering financial competence across the college by providing analytical tools for business insight, educating cost center managers, and implementing financial controls. This role supports the Director in producing quarterly college-wide variance reports and preparing board materials.
Ad Hoc College-Wide Financial Analysis
In coordination with the Director, the individual in this role collaborates with the VP of Finance, Accounting and Business Services and the CFO and senior leadership on as needed financial analysis and assists in long range budget and cash flow planning and analysis. The Financial Analyst assists the Director in reviewing, validating and collaborating with divisions and departments on analysis of the financial impact of their activities. The outcome of this work has campus-wide implications.
Working Conditions
This job utilizes a hybrid workplace model and involves substantial time on the computer.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- The rate for the position is $42/per hour.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Planning & Analysis - 70% of time
Supports the Director in compiling, reviewing and implementing the annual consolidated budget, capital budgets and multi-year operating budgets and prepare them for presentation to the Board of Trustees
Assists in the college budget process in collaboration with the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis
Assists in creating and managing all necessary models for the development of the annual consolidated budgets
Support the Budget Office in the development of policies related to budget
Analyze budget variances and prepare ad hoc reports and forecasts as a basis for recommendations to the Director and management
Provide complex financial analyses, creating financial models of “what if” scenarios
Assists in the development and evaluation of multi-year financial plans and policies; monitor actual results of financial data against plans, forecasts, and budgets
Supports the Director in providing sound financial analysis to support development of the college’s overall business strategy, developing insightful information from the college’s internal accounting and financial reports, delivering executive level presentations, and synthesizing and articulating key findings for senior leadership
Other duties as assigned
System Implementation - 15% of time
Assist Director with data validation throughout implementation of Financial Planning and Analysis system
Perform testing of new system
Supports strategic partnerships with operational and functional leaders across the college to help analyze, diagnose, and improve performance of finance systems, processes/workflows, and policies
Proactively monitor, bring awareness to, risks and opportunities, and recommend solutions to decision makers to influence timely business decision-making
Support the Director in compiling information, analysis and conclusions necessary to allow the business to better understand its operating effectiveness to improve decision making related to business processes and goals
Customer Service - 15% of time
- Be the backup to the Director as a point of contact for finance stakeholders across the college; resolving inquiries, understanding their needs and objectives and offering solutions to enhance their experience
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration, or equivalent experience required
2-4 years work experience in related field
