Small team at artist’s studio seeking freelance printing assistant for creation of fine art inkjet editions & various exhibition-related projects. Possibility to step into role further during staff member’s leave of absence. Job located in Los Angeles, Hollywood area.

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of professional experience in an artist’s studio
BA/BFA in Photography, Printmaking, or other higher education-related focus

Compensation: Hourly commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities

Inkjet print proofing & editioning
Inspect every print for color consistency, surface condition, ink loss or banding, paper integrity
Daily maintenance of printers
Track supply inventory
Maintain studio organization & cleanliness
Prep materials & glassine
Precise trimming of prints
File preparation, retouching, & proper resizing for print
Various administrative tasks

Requirements

Familiar with inkjet printing practices
Experience operating large format printers, preferred familiarity with Epson
Knowledge of printer profiling and RIP programs
Skilled with Adobe PS, knowledge of digital color theory & retouching capabilities
General art handling experience, emphasis on works on paper
A natural eye for attention to detail
Experience with digital photo archiving & inventory record-keeping. Filemaker experience a bonus
Ability to lift 30lbs
Proficient in Mac OS
Must work well with others on a small team
