A contemporary art gallery in Los Angeles seeks a friendly, hard-working and organized professional for a full-time Gallery Assistant position. We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented problem-solver who is willing to go above and beyond. Applicants should be highly organized, able to prioritize, and willing to undertake basic and complex tasks with equal diligence and enthusiasm. Candidate should be self-motivated and able to interact comfortably with the public and have an interest in contemporary art. Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.


Responsibilities include greeting clients and assisting them in the gallery, assisting the directors and registrar with a variety of projects, event organization, inventory database entry and managing and updating the gallery contact list. Administrative duties include maintaining and organizing gallery supplies, opening and closing the gallery, answering phones, managing the owner’s and directors’ calendars and travel arrangements and being responsible for the day-to-day look and cleanliness of the gallery. The Gallery Assistant will also be responsible for scheduling third parties such as installers, photographers and interns. Art handling skills such as packing and wrapping for some storage and shipping is also a part of the position.

Responsibilities also include digital image archive maintenance, coordinating press and art fair materials, and responding to press inquiries as well as archiving artist/gallery press, updating social media pages, updating the website and managing the email blasts for the gallery. The ability to use the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is a must.

  • Proficient with Mac platform, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), full Adobe Creative Suite

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Outstanding attention to detail

  • Ability take initiative, prioritize, and work well under pressure

  • A “can do” and positive attitude
