SHRINE is an art gallery located in New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood focused on highlighting emerging contemporary, outsider and self-taught artists. The gallery was founded in 2016.
SHRINE is expanding to Los Angeles in Fall 2022 and is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to run and direct the new space. The Director of SHRINE LA will be the primary person on the ground for us in LA. The Director will work closely with our NYC team, especially the gallery owners, and they will help us to build a community and expand our gallery into Los Angeles. The Director must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, organizational abilities, exacting attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as a team member. Past working experience at an art gallery is a must.
Responsibilities
Learning our gallery systems and style, and implementing these into the new LA space
Hiring and managing gallery assistants/ interns/ art handlers / etc
Artist and collector support, coordinating shipments, drop offs and pickups, studio and collector visits
Oversee gallery exhibitions at all points, from concept to realized public showing, including installations and deinstalling the shows, scheduling the gallery team, overseeing shipping, facilitating sales and helping to coordinate art fairs and all shows
Collaborating directly with our NYC team on curation, recruiting new artists, studio visits, collector relationships and new ideas
Gallery archiving, adding artworks and contacts to PRIMER

Requirements
Strong verbal and written language skills
Knowledge and adept at the basic Adobe Suite
Interpersonal and management skills
Ability to make and grow sales and build strong connections with collectors
Ability to manage multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines
Hardworking with a go-getter attitude, an understanding of contemporary art, a passion for art, and someone who has ideas to help move the business forward with us and hopefully grow with us.
Knowledge of Google systems including Sheets, Slides, Docs, Etc and previous experience with art databases (we use Primer, which is similar to ArtLogic), adept at Mac computers, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop
