Mark Borghi is seeking a full time gallery manager for its Sag Harbor, New York gallery. This is an in-person position (Thursday-Monday, 10am-5pm) and candidates must be local to eastern Long Island or willing to relocate to the area.

As a premier gallery representing Post War and Contemporary Art in the Hamptons we are looking for someone with at least 1 year of experience within the art industry. As the gallery manager, you are the first point of contact for all clients. You will be responsible for sales, invoices, shipping logistics and inventory management. You will assist with show curation and essay writing on incoming property and assistance at fine art fairs. We are seeking a motivated individual who enjoys working with a small team and is looking to gain experience operating a commercial gallery.

The Gallery Manager reports to Gallery Owner and Gallery Director (Bridgehampton, NY). Salary commensurate with experience, plus vacation and major holidays.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Opening and closing the gallery on a daily basis

  • Greeting clients and answering phone/email inquires

  • Drafting invoices and consignment agreements

  • Tracking inventory and coordinating shipping logistics

  • Assisting with developing exhibition materials

  • Managing the gallery website and keeping up-to-date with recent inventory

  • Representing the gallery at art fairs

  • Light art handling as needed

Requirements

Requirements:

  • B.A. in Art History, Communications, or related field

  • 1 year of experience as a gallery assistant, sales associate, administrator, assistant registrar or marketing coordinator at an arts organization

  • Conversational understanding of American and European Post-War and Contemporary art

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills

  • Basic understanding of Photoshop, experience with ArtLogic and Wordpress preferred
