Pacific is a multidisciplinary creative studio and publisher based in Brooklyn, New York. We create design and communication systems that innovate and build community at the intersection of art, publishing, technology, placemaking, and culture.

The studio’s creative vision is divorced from medium. The spaces and objects that we make—on- and offline—are envisioned in service to the communities who will connect via them. Our mission is to cultivate long-lasting creative relationships that result in community and individual growth, social exploration, and enduring objects in the hands of the public.

Studio Pacific is seeking a Designer with experience in publication design, branding, print and digital design. The right candidate is a motivated self-starter with an interest in art, design and culture who can manage themselves and their projects to meet deadlines, as well as collaborate with our team. Agency experience is a must.

The Designer will be working closely with our founders, account director, and studio manager.

This position begins freelance.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Bringing brand, publication and marketing concepts to life from ideation through to completion

  • Managing project workflows and meeting deadlines

  • Layout design and typesetting for art publications, monographs, catalogues and journals

  •  Designing websites and working with our developer to see through to testing and completion

  • Liaising with printers to review samples, proofs, and timelines

  • Designing marketing material for print and digital

  • Designing creative presentations in Keynote

  • Keeping up with design and industry trends

  • Communicating efficiently and professionally with the Studio and clients

Requirements

The ideal designer has:

  • 2+ years design experience in a creative agency

  • Bachelor’s degree in design or equivalent experience

  • Ambitious self-starter who can take initiative

  • Strong understanding of graphic design, print design and print techniques

  • Proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign

  • Excellent knowledge of Keynote

  • Experience putting together client presentations

  • Knowledge of current typography trends and typesetting

  • Understanding of publication materials, production techniques and print set-up

  • After Effects and Cinema 4D are a plus

  • Knowledge of HTML and CSS is a plus

  • Knowledge of photo editing is a plus
