Reporting to the Deputy Director and Chief Curator, the Head of Publications develops and implements the strategic direction of the YCBA’s publications program, foregrounding scholarship and research on the museum’s collections, exhibitions, and architecture. Working with staff across the museum and with authors around the globe, the Head of Publications will
produce innovative titles and publishing initiatives to advance the YCBA’s profile and contributions to the field of British art.
The role combines strategic planning of the overall publishing program with editorial responsibility for the development of individual titles. The position works closely with YCBA’s Head of Design, who oversees book design, production, and printing. Scholarly rigor,
impeccable editorial and writing skills, and a strong understanding of art history and museum publishing are essential. Familiarity with British art is welcome but not required. The Head of Publications maintains a strong working partnership with Yale University Press for distribution, marketing, and sales.
This position will have the immediate opportunity to hire a development editor.
