The IT Security and Systems Administrator is a full time position and a key member of the Network and Systems team reporting to the Sr. Director for Web and Infrastructure.

The Security and Systems Administrator ensures the safety and wellbeing of CCA’s community and systems and in response to increasing frequency and sophistication of cybersecurity attacks and the complexity of administering campus security systems.

The Security and Systems Administrator provides day to day operational Tier 2 support and administration for multiple campus systems with a focus on cybersecurity and campus physical security systems covering the areas of authentication, data security, and video and access control.

The Security and Systems Administrator will help maintain robust online security and defenses by administering security settings for CCA’s IT infrastructure, including firewalls, authentication and identity management systems. The Security and Systems Administrator will be responsible for monitoring, investigating, and responding to emerging online incidents and attacks.

Additionally, IT Security and Systems Administrator will provide Tier 2 support and administration for a number of campus productivity, communications, collaboration, and collaboration systems, including Google Workspace, Zoom and Zoom Phone.

  • The range for this position is $80,000 - $90,000 annually

POSITION DETAILS:

  • CCA considers a full-time work week to be 37.5 hours per week.

  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

  • Work Mode: Hybrid

  • This position is covered under the staff union collective bargaining agreement and will be required to contribute to union dues/agency fees.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cybersecurity support and administration - 35%

  • Monitor messages, status, and alerts including but not limited to: emails, chat messages, Help Desk tickets, and automated alerts and messages from campus systems such as Duo Multi-factor Authentication, Google Workspace and the PAN firewall.

  • Triage emerging issues and threats, determine the level of risk and the proper level of response in collaboration and coordination with IT leadership and support teams.

  • Initiate next steps and follow through with threat reduction and remediation.

  • Document and communicate outcomes.

  • Conduct periodic vulnerability assessments and penetration testing of CCA systems, identity and assist in resolving vulnerabilities.

  • Review reports from 3rd party security agencies and the media for emerging threats and vulnerabilities and determine the potential impact on CCA.

  • Propose and implement solutions to improve CCA’s defense against cybersecurity threats.

Access Control and Video video surveillance support and administration - 35%

  • Maintain and configure CCA’s physical access control and video surveillance systems to provide security and safety for campus buildings and spaces.

  • Plan, update, and test access control rules to ensure the physical integrity of the campus. Assist Public Safety in configuring dashboards and alerts. Document configurations and system status.

  • Work with vendors and consultants to resolve issues and implement changes and improvements. Debug and isolate issues. Submit and track support tickets to ensure the timely and effective resolution of problems. Supervise and support 3rd party support contractors and support staff while on-site.

  • During emergencies respond to requests from Public Safety to modify access and set threat levels in our systems in response to emerging threats.

  • Work with public safety and stakeholders to provide details of security incidents, assist in reviewing and analyzing logs and archival footage, and provide timelines, video files, and documentation of events.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education or experience

  • Experience maintaining or administering network or server technologies, or providing technical support for end-user computer systems and technologies in a higher education or enterprise environment

  • Familiarity with current versions of Unix, Windows, and Macintosh client/server applications, basic computer networking concepts, internet software and protocols.

  • Must be a self-motivated individual who can juggle many projects at once. Must be good with time-management and prioritization.

  • Excellent attention to detail and routine daily functions, as well as the ability to keep focused and productive with long-term projects in an inherently interrupt-driven job.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate a complex concept or detailed instructions to a non-technical audience

  • Comfortable meeting deadlines; communicating and collaborating with others; giving, receiving and acting on feedback.

  • A curious mind.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with cybersecurity, programming, quality assurance, software or web design, and/or experience with other technical or complex systems

  • Experience administering any of the following systems: Google Workspace, Duo, LDAP, Shibboleth, Millennium, LenelS2, Exacq, Milestone Husky, PAN Wildfire, Zoom, Zoom Phone

  • Participation in technical professional organizations and special interest groups

  • Experience with Unix and/or Windows system scripting

  • Previous work in an academic setting, preferably higher education

  • A personal art and design practice or an active interest in art and design.
