Letterform Archive seeks a talented marketer with strong project management skills to connect our community with our mission by increasing awareness of — and participation in — Archive programs.
Reporting to the Director of Development & Operations, the Marketing Associate will collaborate with all teams at the Archive to plan and implement coordinated marketing initiatives org-wide.
- Identify and define marketing needs for all programs in collaboration with the relevant teams, including: Development, Collections, Curatorial, Editorial, Education, Events, Publishing, and Retail.
Collaborate with the Director of Development & Operations and the Executive Director to develop the Archive’s strategic marketing plan.
Plan and implement coordinated marketing initiatives org-wide.
Maintain an org-wide marketing calendar to ensure each program or initiative is properly promoted and to prevent campaigns from competing for public attention.
Collaborate with the Editorial team to segment and target our audience, manage the editorial calendar (including organic social media), and plan and produce newsletters.
Work with the Designer and Social Media Associate to create and maintain a robust library of marketing, PR, and advertising assets.
Plan, target, and purchase social, web, and print advertising; collaborate with Editorial team to develop advertising creative.
Identify publicity opportunities and work with the Archive’s PR firm to secure coverage; respond to press requests in collaboration with the Editorial team.
Manage marketing projects for Kickstarter campaigns in collaboration with the Publishing team.
Collaborate with all teams to collect stories and statistics about the Archive’s impact.
Host introductory and research visits for individuals and groups: present on materials and publicize Archive programs, services and merchandise.
Be prepared to share the ways guests can have an impact on the sustainability of the Archive through time, money, or evangelism.
Assist at events as needed.
- Physical Requirements: The Marketing Associate will regularly be required to perform desk-based computer tasks, including reading a computer screen for long periods of time, typing, and making phone calls. She/he/they may less frequently be required to move items weighing up to 30 pounds and maneuver a fully-loaded book truck weighing up to 50 pounds. The Archive will provide reasonable accommodations to an employee with a disability who requires accommodations to perform the essential functions of her/his/their job.
Qualifications
4+ years of experience in marketing, especially in nonprofit communications
Experience in planning, creative, and targeting for social, web, and print advertising
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, including significant marketing coursework and/or equivalent experience
Strong project management experience
Passion for or expertise in an area of specialization appropriate to our collections (e.g., type, graphic design, book history, etc.)
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Exceptional organizational and time management skills
Detail oriented
Tech-savvy: experience using G Suite, macOS, and project or task management software
