Part-Time Collections Assistant

The Part-Time Collections Assistant will work closely with the Collections Manager in the proper care, handling, and storage of the artist’s works, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and installations.
Daily tasks may include:
Moving, wrapping, and hanging paintings (often large-scale)
Re-housing and modifying existing housing for 2-D and 3-D works
Cataloging, confirming inventory information, and updating the database
Maintaining clean and organized storage spaces
Assisting with other Collections needs as they arise (for example: storage upgrades, exhibition prep, facilitating framing & conservation, database improvement projects, etc.)
Requirements:
Ability to lift 50lbs+ on a regular basis
Ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Fine motor skills and experience with basic hand tools
Ability to provide your own reliable transportation to Chester, NJ
Working proficiency of English language
A willingness to learn additional job skills as needed
Valuable experiences (not requirements):
Experience handling artwork, furniture, or similar materials
Experience using databases and spreadsheets
Experience using tools and moving equipment such as power drills, ladders, pallet jacks, dollies, and J-bars
Familiarity with the storage requirements of artistic materials
This is a part-time position (Approx. 16-24 hours per week, depending on workload and Assistant’s availability). Compensation is non-salaried (hourly) at a rate of $20/hour. This position does not include benefits.
Work schedule can be flexible with appropriate advanced notice. Hours are typically 9am-5pm. Please note, this position is fully on-site and cannot be completed remotely.
We strongly prefer you be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Valid proof of employment authorization in the United States is required upon hire.
