Crystal Bridges seeks a dynamic individual to lead our employee relations and diversity and inclusion efforts. The position will be responsible for leading and guiding the employee relations and diversity and inclusion function at Crystal Bridges Museum. This includes working collaboratively with the Chief People Officer to assist the institution to be more effective in managing employee relations. This position provides support by coaching, counseling and advising managers on all issues, participating in terminations, conducting investigations, effectively applying policy to issues and performing other general human resources functions. The incumbent will have a commitment to diversity and inclusion. This position will partner with the Chief People Officer and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer in leading institutional efforts in diversity and inclusion. The incumbent is responsible for performing all job duties in accordance with state and federal guidelines/laws and organization policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Provides clear advice and guidance to managers on all Employee Relations issues to include application of law and to institutional policies and procedures

  • Escalates and involves senior management on critical issues as appropriate

  • Counsels, Coaches and Mediates on Employee Relations issues with employees and or supervisors to obtain a reasonable resolution

  • Utilize employee and labor relations expertise to identify issues, predict and mitigate risk and develop and execute employee relation strategies and programs

  • Conduct interviews and investigations on related issues as requested

  • Updates and develops processes and guidelines as well as presents training on Employee Relations topics

  • Assists with complaints and report writing

  • Responsible for researching current related employment laws and making updates to Employee Relations presentations and training materials

  • Consults and works with attorney on Employee Relations cases and investigations

  • Performs administrative duties such as writing detailed and structured investigation reports to include all critical documentation related to Employee Relations, ADA, FMLA, Title VII & EEOC topics (i.e., paperwork, interviews, investigations, and all related documentation, etc.) to ensure proper record-keeping

  • Create and update institutional policies

  • Creates reports and verifies data as necessary

  • Troubleshoot issues independently and drive them to closure with minimal supervision

  • Actively educate and identify effective approaches to embed D&I thinking into every day practices; help increase awareness and embed D&I into general decision making, people management practices and everyday interactions that foster inclusion and value diversity

  • Support and guide internal efforts for diversity and inclusion

  • Provide leadership to the institutions IDEA committee and employee resources groups

  • Support recruitment functions

  • Support performance management functions

  • Serve as back up to assigned HR functions

  • Other duties and projects as assigned

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field.

  • 5+ years human resources experience.

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of diversity and inclusion practices.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to prioritize task and delegate them when appropriate.

  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel or related software.

In regard to education and experience, an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience will satisfy the minimum requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

  • Physical demands: In the work environments described below, position requires utilizing a computer and telephone for prolonged periods of time, good eye/hand coordination, verbal and written conversation with others, lifting/carrying (up to 10 lbs). Vision abilities required by the job include close vision.

  • Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment and in museum spaces. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
