Alexander Gray Associates is seeking a full-time Preparator working in all aspects of art handling, installation, and assisting with facilities maintenance.

Alexander Gray Associates is a contemporary art gallery in New York. Through exhibitions, research, and artist representation, the Gallery spotlights artistic movements and artists who emerged in the mid- to late-Twentieth Century. Influential in cultural, social, and political spheres, these artists are notable for creating work that crosses geographic borders, generational contexts and artistic disciplines. The Gallery also seeks to nurture exceptional people into long-term careers with the Gallery.
Packing and unpacking artworks for fulfillment and loans
Uploading and organizing shipping receipts and fulfillment records
Maintaining storage supplies inventory
Assisting with pickup from and drop-off to Gallery and artist’s studios
Installing artwork for special client or curatorial viewings
Assisting with installation of upcoming exhibitions
Assisting with art fair preparations
Maintaining general upkeep of facilities physical appearance
Assisting with events preparation
Maintaining exhibition and events equipment
Assisting with storage management
Assisting with photographic documentation of artwork with Registrar
BA required, with primary study in one of the following areas: Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or Fine Arts
Minimum 1 years work experience in an art gallery, auction house or museum, ideally with duties as of an art Preparator or art handler
Knowledge of software including: Photoshop, Microsoft Office, Gallery Manager, or other artwork database systems
Familiarity with basic tools, light carpentry
Knowledge of art handling best practices
Experience with fine art packing techniques
Valid drivers license and experience driving a box truck in New York City
Ability to lift at least 40lbs
