• Successful handling and conveyance of art objects as it relates to the materials, condition, placement, and weight of objects


• Good verbal and written communication skills which will be used to maintain contact with other art handlers and office staff. Concise condition reporting.

• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times

• Handling of artworks of various media, carry out activities such as layout and installation of artwork for galleries, individuals and in corporate settings. Solid math aptitude a must.

• Responsible for keeping work space and storage areas maintained and clean

• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while keeping a cool head

• A thorough knowledge and appreciation of contemporary, modern and traditional fine art

• Bachelor’s degree and/or at least one-year experience art handling within, or for museums, cultural institutions, or galleries

• Excellent customer relation skills

• Enjoy working in a collaborative environment and appreciation for the logistics involved with each project

• Basic softpacking skills; familiarity & experience with hand tools

• Ability to safely lift 60 lbs.; move objects, climb ladders and work on scaffolding and lifts

• Drivers license is required and experience driving 26ft box trucks is a plus (CDL not required); ability to complete DOT Medical Exam

• Must be available for occasional overnight travel
