Full time preparator will play an integral role assisting with practical gallery logistics, working primarily with gallery principal and directors a primary focus on installations, shipments, and packing.
Work with director/registrar to organize and oversee gallery shipments and installations, including art fairs, exhibitions, sold works
Organize and oversee installations and deinstallations, troubleshooting installation issues on-site
Work with various fine art shipping companies to bid out shipments and crating jobs
Hire and oversee freelance art handler team for packing large shipments, installs, and deinstalls including art fairs, exhibitions, and viewings
Maintain gallery on-site and off-site storage, working directly with storage facility team to reconcile gallery database with storage facility database
Organize and oversee any construction or modification to the gallery space
Work with assistant registrar to generate detailed condition reports of all works to come through gallery
Manage personnel on-site to ensure that extreme care is being taken with the handling of each object and that the movement of crates and other activities taking place on the gallery floor is in an organized manner to prevent any risk befalling artworks
Maintain gallery database with specific attention paid to noting artwork movement
Some travel may be required for art fairs on an as needed basis
2-3 years art handling/preparator experience
Proficiency with ArtBase preferred
