Reports to: Director of Operations
Blum & Poe Los Angeles seeks a full-time Production Coordinator with at least 3 years of relevant experience to begin immediately. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, have strong organizational and multitasking skills, and be able to work well in a dynamic, multi-location environment. This person will work closely with the Registrars, Director of Operations, and Artist Liaisons.
PRODUCTION
Alongside the Director of Operations, work closely with Registrars and Liaisons to coordinate production for artists and exhibitions
Work closely with the Director of Operations, Registrars and the Head Preparator in the design and execution of unique fabrication projects including exhibition furniture, stretchers, panels, frames, crates, and architectural/ sculptural elements, coatings
Work closely with the Director of Operations and the Head Preparator to develop and review technical drawings
Provide 3-D renderings of exhibition layouts via Sketch Up
Submit expense approval requests directly to the Managing Director and Director of Finance
Work closely with the Director of Operations to oversee the production budget
Work closely with the Finance Coordinator to track and allocate production costs
Create and maintain archive of framing specifications on COIN and ArtBase
Develop and maintain Production Work Order Request Form and process alongside the logistics team
Maintain production schedule alongside the Logistics team
Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and fabricators
Conduct site visit to framers, fabrication shops, and material vendors
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of materials, techniques, and best practices
Alongside the Director of Logistics coordinate local transport of artworks to and from framers, fabricators, and conservators
Work closely with the Registrar on conservation projects related to production
Participate in the weekly production meeting, logistics meeting, staff meeting and exhibitions meeting
Oversee inventory of materials to support all production activities
Alongside the Director of Operations and Head Preparator research and develop in-house fabrication program, paper conservation, and framing capabilities
Coordinate with the Registrar(s) and Photographer(s) to make sure newly framed and fabricated works are documented and Condition Reported
Coordinate with the Warehouse Manager to store and track exhibition furniture, general use pedestals and crates
Organize vinyl lettering on the walls for exhibitions
ART HANDLING
Assist with the movement and installation of artworks throughout our gallery, viewing, and storage spaces
Assist with organization and tracking of inventory in our warehouses
Assist with receiving and releasing artworks and loading/off-loading trucks
Assist with local collections and deliveries
Prepare and properly pack artworks for transport and storage
Prepare spaces for client viewings and photography including painting, patching, and artwork installation
Keep viewing spaces and warehouses clean, safe, and client-ready
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 3 years extensive experience working as a preparator and handling a variety of artworks at a contemporary art gallery, art handling company, or museum.
Knowledge and application of art handling best practices
General knowledge of framing, production, and conservation techniques
Must be a positive and supportive team player, able to address new challenges
Ability to take initiative, multitask, and work graciously in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented and extremely well organized
Strong communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Proficient knowledge of fine art logistics including installation, packing, shipping, and storage
Familiarity with Artbase, Microsoft Office, SketchUp, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite

The salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $60,000 to $75,000.
The position is an onsite, full-time, 5 days per week, Monday - Friday. The applicant must be flexible and available outside of the designated days on an as needed basis.
