Minnesota Street Project (Project) offers affordable and economically sustainable space for art galleries, artists, and related nonprofits in San Francisco’s historic Dogpatch district. With over 100,000 square feet, the Project seeks to retain and strengthen San Francisco’s contemporary art community in the short-term, while developing an internationally recognized arts destination in the long-term.

The Program Manager will report to the Director of Programming and Public Engagement. The purpose of this role is to support the Project’s robust programming schedule and to support the Director of Programming and Public Engagement. The Program Manager will provide administrative support to the Director of Public Programs and Engagement on tenant galleries’ exhibitions and programs. The Program Manager is responsible for maintaining multiple calendars and procuring marketing and communication assets and maintaining the database. This individual will work closely with the Venue and Facilities Coordinator on event clients and visiting galleries’ walkthroughs. This position will provide additional administrative and communication support for the Project.

Responsibilities

Events and Programs

  • Field event inquiries, lead initial client walkthroughs and pass to venue coordinator for the remainder of event planning

  • Collaborate with the Director of Programming and Public Engagement on programmatic content and partnerships that align with the Project’s mission

  • Maintain pipeline for prospective and confirmed programs

  • Project manage programs and events

  • Occasionally provide on-site support for programs (will include nights and weekends)

  • Assist with ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Director of Programming and Public Engagement

Communications

  • Create and maintain multiple event calendars

  • Write and send contracts

  • Keep files and records for both past and upcoming programs

  • Create and administer bi-monthly Newsletter

  • Update the Project website for gallery exhibitions, programs, and calendar

  • Send upcoming events email to galleries, staff, neighbors, Entertainment Commission, and Bayview Police Station

Visiting Galleries & Tenant Galleries

  • Manage visiting gallery logistics including contracts and COIs

  • Support Director of Programming and Public Engagement on tenant galleries’ programs, exhibitions, and programs

  • Liaise with both visiting and permanent galleries to source shareable marketing assets – with social media assistant

Requirements
  • Knowledgeable and passionate about the contemporary art scene, with a minimum of 3 years of experience at a museum, gallery or arts-related organization

  • BA in Visual Arts, Art History, or equivalent experience preferred

  • Experience with project management or event coordination (experience in sales and customer service is a plus)

  • Familiarity with key arts professionals and organizations in the Bay Area, nationally, and internationally

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced work environment and the ability to multi-task and be flexible

  • Ability to collaborate among the Project’s departments

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Comfortable with client-facing interaction and public speaking to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated written and spoken communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate both internally and externally

  • Fluency on multiple computer and web-based platforms including MAC OS X, Microsoft Office, Airtable (proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite a plus)

  • Availability to work both nights and weekends

  • Some knowledge of AV equipment and its functions

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and best practice a plus

  • Valid driver’s license required

  • Ability to lift at least 40 lbs. and provide physical support as needed

  • Sense of humor
