In a shifting period, opportunities are emerging for new and exciting artistic forms. Sonic Acts wishes to enhance its programme by continuing to develop and explore these many trails and intersections. Whether it’s a stage performance, an audiovisual installation or locative media experience, a live stream or a book: anything is possible. We are driven by new perspectives, and are therefore searching for a Programmer / Researcher.

Sonic Acts is a leading organisation in the field of innovative electronic art and theory with a strong focus on climate crisis and pollution. With extensive online and physical programmes in the Netherlands and abroad, and a large-scale biennial festival in Amsterdam, Sonic Acts produces, presents and distributes a wide variety of artistic works and research. It is an ambitious organisation that strives for exceptional artistic quality while being a hub for an international network of makers, curators and thinkers. Sonic Acts is based in Amsterdam and works with prominent Dutch and international partners.

Responsibilities

As a programmer you are part of the Programming team. Together you will develop programmes, prepare them and present them. You will research new developments and work on related opportunities for audiovisual art and experimental sound works, including the programme of our next festival edition in 2022. As a member of the Programming team, you also provide feedback on proposals from your team and from makers, and coordinate with our Production and Communications teams.

Requirements

Completed higher education;

At least 3 years of relevant work experience;


Thorough knowledge of electronic music, sound and audiovisual art, especially forms outside of dominant canons;

Good communication and excellent writing skills in English;

Relevant network in media, design and art and culture;

You can work well in a team;

Proactive, flexible, creative and result-oriented.
