  • The rate of pay for this position is $29.26 per hour.

Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

The functions listed describe the daily function of this job or position. Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately. A Supervisor will be required to perform all functions listed and is expected to be a working supervisor to actively participate in daily patrol duties when needed.

  • Apply standard practices, policies and procedures to daily operations to address campus needs and concerns. Always keeping the goal of providing great customer services to the CCA community and taking excellent care of our stakeholders.

  • Must be able to write clear, concise written incident reports at the equivalent of a High School Graduate

  • Responsible for daily coaching, guidance and direction of Public Safety Officers. Develops a custom deployment plan to maximize visibility and effectiveness of resources (personnel and equipment). Evaluates daily needs and adjusts the standard deployment plan to meet the daily needs of the CCA community.

  • Assist with the recruitment and selecting of potential candidates for hire. Trains, coaches and mentors selected staff to create a cohesive team of Public Safety Officers to represent the department.

  • Schedule coverage or working for officers calling off as well as confirming any schedule changes. Manage vacation scheduling.

  • Ensures customer service expectations are being met through regular contact with the CCA community; evaluates quality of services through measuring individual employee performances compared to expectations and overall department performance, making adjustments as necessary.

  • Must be able to provide written reports of broken infrastructure, graffiti on campus property, and provide a basic daily report of accomplishments and tasks completed. Must be able to provide direction and counsel to team members and report concerns to the Public Safety Manager.

  • Supervise subordinates so they perform their functions effectively

  • Assign security duties as circumstances warrant

  • Evaluate and document subordinate’s performance and provide feedback

  • Review and oversee corrections to appropriate subordinate’s reports

  • Maintain liaison with appropriate campus department personnel on a given shift

  • Assist with subordinates training

  • Carries out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned post.

  • Quickly identify potential negative situations and implement effective countermeasures

  • Responding to health emergencies and incidents, as needed or when directed

  • Complete an inventory of ID card supplies, office supplies, and uniforms.

  • Check to ensure timesheets are completed for Manager’s approval by the 15th and 30th/31st of each month

  • Provide post coverage, if necessary.

  • Assist the Security Manager in administrative or functional tasks as directed

  • Additional duties may be assigned by the Public Safety Manager and/or Director of Public Safety and functions may be modified, according to departmental necessity.

  • All assigned duties or tasks are deemed to be part of the essential functions, unless such duties or tasks are unrelated to the functions listed, in which case they are deemed to be other (non-essential) functions.

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manage a team of Public Safety Officers (2-5) and serves as the supervisor point of contact for one to two Public Safety Officers during shift.
Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

This position requires at least 5 years of successful supervisory skills and experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have reliable transportation and be able to report for duty promptly if requested. Must possess superb analytical and problem solving abilities, sound judgment when making decisions, excellent oral and written, and electronic communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or oral form, to follow policies and procedures and to complete tasks correctly with minimal supervision. Must possess a sound understanding of modern security principles and procedures and the ability to react well under pressure when dealing with sensitive subjects, difficult people, and emotional situations.
